My story

I am Florian and have been working at LEONI in Roth since January 2020. I joined by way of a dual-study program, and I completed my degree course in electrical engineering and information technology at Nuremberg Tech university in collaboration with LEONI.  I was able to carry out my own projects during my practical phases in advanced development at LEONI. After I completed my degree course, I joined this department as a development engineer.

My job

As an engineer in Product Development, my task is developing data cables and measuring methods with high-frequency requirements together with my team. This involves thoroughly analyzing technical aspects and making the acquired knowledge available to partner departments. Accordingly, my area of responsibility covers technical expertise with respect to products and measurement methods.

What particularly inspires me about this? The technical depth. The subjects are assessed not just superficially but technically processed using various methods to understand backgrounds. Thanks to first-rate lab equipment, it is a fulfilling experience for me to translate theoretical concepts into practice.

My daily routine

Start of the day

When colleagues are on site, we first head for the coffeemaker together and share information.

Morning

To start the day, I check emails and my diary for upcoming meetings. Thereafter I devote myself to my tasks and try as best as possible to concentrate on them.

Lunch break

Together with my team, I usually head for the canteen at around 12 noon and there we also chat about private matters. Occasionally we also decide to go into town, especially when we are keen on some Asian food.

Afternoon

Afternoons frequently involve team meetings to jointly discuss the latest findings.

Evening

Once work is done, I normally head home, do some shopping, and take on chores that are due. I spend time exercising almost every evening to have the necessary work/life balance.

My highlights

One of my highlights was definitely coding software to automate measurement systems. This software comprised several thousand lines of code and the moment when the system worked was already very fulfilling.

In addition, we took a trip as a team to ANSYS near Munich to take part in a training session. Alongside receiving very good input of specialist information, this excursion with my team was a very pleasant event.

Submitting my degree dissertation was another highlight.

My view of LEONI as an employer

We are paid very good and attractive, collectively agreed salaries at LEONI thanks to the support of the IG Metall labor union. The opportunity to structure working hours flexibly and the option of mobile working are also very appealing. Honest and transparent treatment is prioritized at LEONI.

LEONI in three words? International, approachable, and regionally anchored.
