My story at LEONI

I am Bastian. I’m 18 years old and started my apprenticeship to qualify as an IT specialist in systems integration at LEONI in September 2022 after my Mittlere Reife (secondary school certificate).  A passion for handling PCs and software has always been part of me and I am very happy that I have now found a job in which I can turn this passion into deed.  This apprenticeship is structured in a varied and exciting way, and every day presents new challenges.

This is my job

As an IT specialist, my main tasks are to install new hardware, support colleagues via the IT ticket system or on site at the plant as well as to maintain the IT landscape. I furthermore bear responsibility for developing applications and websites at our location in Roth as I already have experience in this area.

My daily routine

Start of the day

My day starts at 7 a.m. by going through emails and team news. This is an important part of my working day as it keeps me up to speed with the latest developments and inquiries. It also enables me to respond promptly to urgent matters and to set priorities for the day.

Morning

Thereafter, I plan which jobs and meetings are scheduled for the day and work through them one after the other.

Lunch break

I usually take my lunch break at 12 noon. During that time, I often meet other apprentices to share experiences and ideas with them, or I’ll to eat in the canteen together with my IT colleagues colleagues.

Afternoon

After the lunch break, I continue working on the outstanding tasks. Afternoons can be just as varied as mornings. New challenges can arise, or ongoing projects might require my attention.

Evening

My working day usually ends between 3 and 4 p.m. That gives me the opportunity to conclude a productive day and to find time for my personal activities.

My highlight

A particular highlight for me was when my IT capabilities were recognized, and I was allowed to work independently on developing applications and websites for our Roth site. .

Mein Blick auf LEONI als Arbeitgeber

A very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere prevails in my team, which promotes collaboration. Despite this informality, the department is exceptionally professional thanks to clear segmentation into subject areas.

I think that LEONI as an employer can be simply and concisely characterized with the words friendly, modern, and challenging.

My tips for future colleagues

To be successful in IT at LEONI, you should, in particular, be ready for ongoing learning and be happy to interact with IT, especially so with PCs and related technologies.
