My story at LEONI

I am Stefan and I have been with LEONI since 2022. I am in the second year of my apprenticeship to qualify as an industrial mechanic and am currently working in the metalworking shop, specifically in the area of fixtures fabrication and chipping. I was interested in spannering even before my time at LEONI. The "Apprenticeships Evening" event gave me insights into the company, its history, and its work processes. It was immediately clear that this is the kind of work that gives me pleasure. I am pleased now to be completing a high-quality apprenticeship at LEONI and thus being able to deepen my knowledge and interest.

This is my job

My daily tasks are wide-ranging, from replacing parts through to own production and assembly. This variety and constant opportunity for learning about machinery and equipment make my job especially appealing and continually challenges me. It fascinates me that I get to work every day with curiosity, without knowing which challenges await me.

My daily routine

Start of the day

My working day at LEONI normally begins between 7 and 7.30 a.m. I start the day by reading my emails, checking them for any latest news and assignments. Thereafter I head over to the metalworking shop where I get an overview of the pending tasks. These might range from replacing parts through manufacture and assembly, depending on the working day.

Lunch break

During the lunch break I enjoy having a meal in the canteen together with my colleagues.

Afternoon

In the afternoon I return to my department and devote myself to the assigned tasks with care and commitment. I appreciate the opportunity to gather practical experience and to progress in my work as an industrial mechanic.

Evening

I usually say my good-byes in my department and to my instructors at about 3.30 p.m. to enjoy my well-deserved time after work.

My highlights

My highlights at LEONI are the regular excursions for students and apprentices. At the beginning of my apprenticeship, a three-day trip awaited us in my first year, followed by a day trip for all of us so that could get to know each other better. These events enable me not only to see already familiar colleagues again but also to make new contacts

My view of LEONI as an employer

I intentionally chose LEONI as an employer because of its international nature. From the outset I appreciated the harmonious interaction with my colleagues. My always available contacts at LEONI furthermore give me a feeling of security and support. My confidence in the available support if I have any questions or need help contributes considerably to the favorable work atmosphere that I perceive.

In the metalworking shop, I find the atmosphere among apprentices and colleagues to be harmonious and friendly. I was also warmly received when I transferred from the teaching workshop to the metalworking shop and was soon assigned independent tasks. LEONI attaches great importance to politeness and safety at work. The teamwork, especially among us apprentices, is outstanding. Here in Roth, we even have a junior company in which apprentices and students work on projects exclusively and manage these themselves.

In short, LEONI can be described as employee-friendly, forward-looking, and fostering

My tips for future colleagues

As a global company, LEONI opens wide-ranging opportunities to actively contribute – be it for apprentices, students, or career changers. Being authentic and showing personal initiative pays off especially well. Sharing ideas with colleagues, be it in the form of improvement suggestions or inspiring approaches in the repair of machinery, is not only interesting to everyone but can also be successfully applied.
