My story at LEONI

My name is Christoph and I have been with LEONI since 2018, where I have overall responsibility for IT. Above all, my day-to-day business involves global meetings to promote and advance sharing of information and ideas among all colleagues. Together, we are really driving the technological transformation at LEONI, standing still is never an option for us!

This is my job

As head of IT at LEONI I bear overall responsibility for information technology and am in regular touch with colleagues to to drive forward the company's digital transformation as a value driver.

My highlight

I wouldn't just pick one special moment but the entire process of my arrival at LEONI in 2018. The many different colleagues, our sites around the world and the openness and joy of collaborating that can be felt everywhere are something that I find genuinely appealing. At the same time, it has paved the way for me to learn many new things at LEONI, to develop as a person and manager and to have fun together in our day-to-day work.

LEONI’s support in mastering my tasks and developing new capabilities is reflected in the confidence in me to take on personal responsibility, the scope given for development and promotion of learning on the job.

My view of LEONI as an employer

I was drawn to LEONI for two main reasons: first, the forward-looking products and, second, the sector itself. The significant transformation in the automotive industry attracted me, and at LEONI I’m experiencing a fascinating combination of seemingly opposing elements: a corporation that operates internationally but with a family-like atmosphere and pronounced collegiality together with a long company history and numerous product innovations. Its advanced work models, like home working and flexible working hours, provide maximum flexibility, which is to me a decisive hallmark of an outstanding employer.

The atmosphere here in IT is a good mix: direct, transparent, and marked by trust. We are all in the same boat, which is why hierarchy levels or job titles don't play that much of a part. By contrast, it is far more important for us that you demonstrate your own initiative and have the ambition to resolve technical and interpersonal challenges – the buzzword being problem-solving skills. In return, we offer you much scope for development and we advance our colleagues wherever possible. Here in IT, we forge ahead with many exciting projects together, so everyone can contribute.

Briefly and succinctly, I would describe LEONI as family-like, collegial, and challenging.

My tips for future colleagues

For anyone starting at LEONI I would advise concentrating on the key aspects, taking advantage of the expertise of others and simultaneously acquiring your own specialist knowledge.

A certain degree of confidence is never a bad thing. An openness to new approaches, methods and perspectives is helpful: not only the automotive industry but also LEONI itself is constantly changing. And so it is helpful to have a positive mindset in relation to change because many obstacles can lead to more constructiveness or efficiency. And, with us, a fair amount of resilience is also useful.
